(10th October, 2019) Heart and capital Nigeria Limited, a leading agric focused company held its first Agrowth conference themed; diversification of the Nigerian economy: Agriculture as panacea. The event brought together the general public and agribusiness experts across academia, public and private sectors at the Kwara state Banquet hall, Ilorin to learn how to better harness the potential of Africa’s agricultural economy which is said to grow into a trillion dollars in few years.   

The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mallam Umar Oba Adelodun while speaking to journalists on the purpose of the event said “ owning to our mission of growing and easing agribusiness, we created the Agrowth conference to serve as a platform where prospective farmers, farmers, and the general public can get to learn more about the prospects and opportunities that abound in the agric sector while giving existing farmers  the opportunity to interact and share their challenges with panelists and colleagues in the sector to get workable solutions.…this is more than a CSR for us, it’s an obligation.”

On the panel sessions, dissecting how the potential of the trillion dollar economy can be effectively harnessed for sustainability and impact were the CEO, President, Heart and Capital Nigeria Limited, Mr Abdulquawiy Olododo, Dr. Shehu Akanbi of the department of Agriceconomics, University of Ilorin, Trade promotion advisor of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Mr Okhilu Andrew, Mr Sherifdeen Rabiu MD/CEO of Balogun Gambari Microfinance bank, Head of NIRSAL PMRO, Mr Adeobafemi Hassan and MR. Elebiyo Gbadebo, Field Agriculturist and Operations Officer of Leadway Assurance Ltd.

Speaking on enabling impact driven investments as a way to diversify the Nigerian economy and break shackles of hunger and poverty, the Media Director of the company, Miss Rasheedat Daibu noted that ”good investments should be socially driven, seeking to address world’s most pressing challenges such as sustainable agriculture, climate change, unemployment, education, alongside financial returns which are the driving forces of the Eterno project by H&C.

The Eterno project by Heart and Capital is an investment opportunity that allows individuals to make profit from large scale commercial farm while increasing food security, creating employment and supporting the United Nation’s climate action goal. The CEO therefore called on government and individuals of Nigeria to harness the potential of agriculture as a potent force to combat our over reliance on crude oil and sustainably diversify the economy.
